Clean Streetz
Clean Streetz is an employment opportunity for those who are displaced, on the streets, in shelters, or who may also struggle under the federal poverty line. Our goal to clean the city streets twice a week in order to reduce waste, litter, and keep our community beautiful.
Breaking the Cycle Classes
Mon and Wed from 10:30am to 12pm or 1:15pm to 2:45pm
Breaking the Cycle Class helps participants address their thinking, behavior, and/or substance use disorders in order to break the cycle of generational poverty.
Participants will set goals for their future, learn financial literacy and employment skills, & learn 4 key skills for overcoming substance use & criminal behavior, and develop a Recovery Maintenance Plan (RMP).
Shower and Laundry Services
Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri from 9:15am to 2pm
Offer the love of God to those experiencing homelessness through the “Holy Suds Ministry”. This includes laundry and shower facilities, devotions, and uplifting conversations with caring volunteers.
The Clothes Closet
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:15am to 2pm
Distributes more than 2,000 pounds of free clothing to those experiencing homelessness each month.
Social Services Ministry
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:45am to 2pm
Assesses clients’ needs and provides assistance with prescription medications, obtaining a Georgia ID or birth certificate, bus tickets, work boot assistance, diaper bank (The Sparrow's Nest is an Athens Area Diaper Bank Partner), food bank, addiction recovery services, and referrals to various other local service agencies.
Computer Lab
Tuesdays from 9:15am to 12pm
Allows clients to search for jobs, work on resumes, print and scan documents, check emails, and connect with family and friends.
Food for Friends
Breakfast: Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fri from 9:15am to 10:30am
Lunch: Monday - Friday from 12pm to 1:30pm
Helps individuals and families in crisis by providing hot meals on a weekly basis. The Sparrow’s Nest purchases and distributes over 50,000 pounds of food to Athens’ most needy residents each year.
Morning Chapel
Fridays from 9:15am to 9:45am
Shares God’s life-transforming truths with people who struggle with substance use disorders and the homeless— believers and unbelievers alike. In this faith-filled worship service, participants receive the Word, prayer, encouragement, and fellowship.
Emergency Food Program

Provides emergency food assistance to individuals and families with demonstrated need who are unable to receive food on our designated weekly distribution day. The Sparrow's Nest is a Northeast GA Foodbank Partner and canned goods are available to community members.
